The most sought-after areas to rent an apartment in Bucharest by students

Students who want to stay in Bucharest during the academic year 2018-2019 choose to rent studios in Dristor, Politehnica, Center, Timpuri Noi or Eroilor, prices reaching between 230 and 310 euros, depending on the area, shows a study  done by Real Estate Salon Bucharest (Salonul Imobiliar Bucuresti).

The first place in the renters’ preferences is the Dristor area, where rents for a studio vary between 230 and 240 euros.

“Although it is not in the immediate vicinity of any university campus, Dristor area is on the first place on top due to rent levels, with benefits such as the presence in the area of two different subways (M1 and M3) connecting the neighborhood to all major points of interest in Bucharest, but also proximity to two shopping centers “, shows the analysis.

The second place is the Grozăveşti-Politehnica area, where the rent of the studios varies between 250 and 290 euros.

“It is the traditional area of the students in Bucharest, where the two public campuses – the Student Registry Complex and the Leu Students Complex – are located. In the area there are the Polytechnic University, the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, the Faculty of Psychology and the Faculty of Journalism. The main benefits are the presence of two metro stations – Grozăveşti and Politehnica, proximity to Gara de Nord, shopping centers, parks and Botanical Garden ” says the study.

The next preferred area for students to rent is the central Unirii-Universitate-Roman area, where studios are quoted between 290 and 310 euros.

The area brings together the largest universities: the University of Bucharest with the 13 faculties and numerous specializations (Letters, Law, Philosophy, History, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Geography, etc.), National School of Political and Administrative Studies and Academy of Economic Studies.

“Also, proximity to the Old Center, the capital’s entertainment pole with numerous cafes, restaurants and clubs, proximity to Cismigiu Park, but also three underground stations and numerous bus and trolley stations, are among the main benefits. At the same time, this is also the most expensive area in the SIB Top “, the quoted source quotes.

Fourth place ranks the Timpuri Noi area, where rents for studios vary between 280 and 300 euros.

In the area there is a private university pole – Dimitrie Cantemir University, Nicolae Titulescu and Titu Maiorescu, the demand coming from students with over-average monthly budgets. The proximity to the Tineret Park and the Old Center, as well as the recent investments in commercial projects, give the area an aura of exclusivity, analysts consider that this is the reason why prices are higher.

The last area in the ranking is Eroilor-Ştirbei Voda, where the rents of a studio vary between 255 and 280 euros.

This is an extension of the ultracentral area where the University of Medicine and Pharmacy with four specializations (Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy) and the National Defense University are located.

“The presence of the metro station, the proximity to parks (Eroilor, Opera and Cismigiu), as well as the ultracentral area are the main benefits of this area, which ranks 5th in the top list”, the study’s authors say.

According to the National Statistics Institute, in the year 2017 in the Bucharest-Ilfov region there were 33 universities with 127,500 students.
