How do you rent an apartment in Bucharest?

There are many options to do so. You can walk around the city and call the banners advertising apartments, you can check the real estate portals (mostly in Romanian), you can ask friends and colleagues to help you out or you can contact a real estate agency like BLISS Imobiliare.

If you wish to save time and avoid difficulties a professional and reliable real estate agency can do wonders for you. They know the market, they follow new offers, they know all ins and outs of dealing with rentals. Choose an agent with a proven track record. The cost of working with an agent differs from a fee equal to 50% of one month rent to 100% of one month rent. Depending on what you expect from the agent.

When you have found an apartment make sure that the owner has the right to rent the apartment and negotiate the contractual conditions. Your agency will support you during this process.

When all is agreed and signed you will need to pay a deposit, normally equal to one month rent, and one month rent in advance unless differently agreed on.

The agent will assist you at the moving in process and together with you go through the handover report.

Do not hesitate to ask the agent anything you need to know or do not understand. Their job is to clarify these.
